Psychologist: Dr Ioan Rees PhD
Where the mind goes the body follows”. Therefore, looking after our mental health and emotional wellbeing is important in helping us live a full, happy and healthy life. As a psychologist and Ironman triathlete I have discovered that developing a positive and resilient mindset helps people achieve more than they ever thought was possible.
Born in Carmarthen, Radio Cymru listeners will have heard him discussing psychological matters on numerous occasions on the station’s programmes. He is a Chartered Psychologist with the British Psychological Society and a Registered Psychologist with the HCPC (Health and Care Professionals Council). Ioan is also an Accredited Fellow Coach (AFC), the highest level of coach with the “International Authority for Professional Coaching & Mentoring” (IAPCM) and a Senior Systems Leadership Coach for the Welsh Government.
After transforming his own life in 2008 through healthy eating and exercise, he lost 6 stone in weight over a period of 9 months and completed his first Ironman triathlon. To date, he has completed six Ironmans and has turned his attention to the world of Ultra running. Both professionally and personally he now enjoys using his experiences and psychological methods to help others find a healthier way of living, despite all the challenges of life.
